• Swift: Timely diagnoses in 15 to 20 minutes
• Simple: Requires minimal staff training
• Secure: Reduced risk of contamination
The cobas® Liat® PCR System comes with the size of a single-serve coffee maker. The benchtop analyzer with its compact dimensions suits even in surroundings with limited space to ensure maximum flexibility.
The cobas® Liat® System supplies test results with turnaround times of about 15 minutes for a Strep A result and 20 minutes for an Influenza A/B, Influenza A/B & RSV, or Cdiff result. By comparison, rapid antigen tests have a lower rate of accuracy and require confirmation of negative results. Accurate lab cultures have a long turnaround time, from 4 hours to 5 days.
The cobas® Liat® PCR System is easy to use, with no need for a special or extensive staff training. The hands-on time is reduced to less than a minute. It is only three simple steps to generate quick and accurate results.
The cobas® Liat® PCR System has a completely closed design, and uses uniquely engineered assay tubes to reduce the risk of contamination. Furthermore, the cobas® Liat® PCR System has extensive internal control measures that ensure you get the high-quality results you expect.
How cobas® Liat® improves diagnosis and treatments in
Health Care Professionals day-to-day work
Patients rely on me and my staff for quick, trustworthy medical attention. I don’t want to sacrifice accuracy for faster results—a fast and accurate diagnosis drives appropriate treatment decisions.
I manage a diagnostics laboratory servicing a regional hospital network with a number of satellite clinics. Our ultimate goal is to support healthcare professionals in their efforts to deliver the best care possible—that also means being available when testing is needed in STAT or out-of-hours settings.
The pharmacy clinic I work in is always busy, especially during the winter season—people often come to me when they’re first showing symptoms. As a healthcare provider, I see it as my responsibility to do all I can help my customers when they need it most.
Take a patient sample and add it to the cobas® Liat® System assay tube by using the provided transfer pipette. The cobas® Liat® assay tube is ready for use and contains all reagents that are required for testing a single sample.
Scan the barcode on the assay tube sleeve using the built-in barcode reader, then scan your patients sample ID. If you dont use a barcode system, you can type in the sample ID using the touchscreen´s keypad option.
Insert now the assay tube into the cobas® Liat® analyzer. The analyzer automatically begins to run the test. About 15 to 20 minutes later, the test is complete. Definitive results appear on the analyzer's screen. No interpretation or confirmation is required.
Enables timely diagnoses at the point of care: real-time PCR assay for the detection of Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A β-hemolytic Streptococcus).
When there is a pressing need for a diagnosis: multiplex real-time RT-PCR assay for the detection of Influenza A virus and Influenza B virus RNA.
Helps to diagnose fast when patients need it most: multiplex real-time RT-PCR assay for the detection of Influenza A virus, Influenza B virus and RSV.
Supports diagnosis at the time of patient´s visit: diagnostic PCR test for the detection of the toxin B gene of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile).
