Absolute automation, from sample tube onward

Designed to provide a fully integrated real-time PCR workflow, the cobas® 6800 can run up to 384 tests in an eight-hour shift with minimal user interactions and up to eight hours of walk-away time.

Sample supply
Samples are directly loaded into the sample supply module via sample rack trays. Up to 225 samples can be loaded on the sample supply module.
A wide variety of common tube types is supported. No pre-sorting of tubes is required.

Sample transfer
The transfer module automatically moves samples into the system for barcode scanning and subsequent transfer from primary or secondary tubes onto the cobas omni processing plate. The ordering process is fully automated and worklists are created as samples are scanned. Up to 125 samples may be on board the sample transfer module, providing a total on board sample capacity of 350 samples.
 

Sample preparation
Extraction and purification of nucleic acids from input samples takes place in the processing module. The purified nucleic acids are then transferred to amplification plates, along with test-specific amplification master mixes to prepare the plates for amplification and detection in the analytical module. Amplification plates are automatically heat sealed at the end of the process and transferred to the Amplification and Detection module.
