Comprehensive Healthcare and livelihood Management for the Tribal Village of Maharashtra:
Since 2015, Roche Diagnostics has been working to promote the livelihood and health of women in the tribal villages of Saphale (in Palghar), Maharashtra. Called Roshni (‘Ray of Hope’ in Hindi), this program enables access for women to health camps for testing and consultation, regular doctor visits with the provision of free medicines, and nutrition supplements targeting those women with severe anaemia.
Drumstick saplings and kitchen garden training were provided to 500 tribal women in addition to establishing rainwater harvesting in 100 village homes and borewells.
At a depth of this lack of nutrition and health amongst these communities of women is the need for empowerment. Thus, the programme through the formation of self-help groups enables financial literacy, education on government schemes, and promotion of livelihood through vocational training for these women.
So far, Project Roshni has reached out to over 700 women directly and around 3500 families indirectly through its benefit programmes.
