The Personal Data we process about you includes the following categories of Personal Data:

  • IP address
  • 3rd party cookies
  • Web pages viewed
  • Demographic data
  • Online identifiers
  • Social media use and utilization
  • Geo-location data, as may be transmitted to use by your smart phone or other location-aware devices

We may collect Personal Data on your visit to our Sites through cookies, IP information, or other data provided by your web browser or device. We also collect data that you voluntarily provide to us through your interactions with our Sites, contacting us through email forms or if you call, email, write to us or contact us through social media.

We combine all of this data, together with data provided by third parties as set forth below, to offer you services and to otherwise facilitate the activities described in the following section.

Several places on our Site require addition personal information if you choose to use them. At these places, we ask you to give us contact information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address).

We may use contact information to send you information about our company, such as new products, special offers or information. As stated below, you may opt out of being contacted in the future and receiving information of this sort.

Roche uses cookies to enhance the user experience within our Site as well as to maintain access security. These cookies will not damage your computer's hardware, files or software in any way.

Most browsers today allow users to set cookie preferences to accept all cookies, warn users before accepting cookies, or always reject cookies set by Web servers if a user prefers. Furthermore, browsers such as Internet Explorer® and Firefox® allow users to cleanse existing cookies from their hard drives.

When you visit our Site, we assign a unique visitor ID to a cookie file stored on your computer. This code is generated at random to enable us to "remember" you the next time you visit. This technique enables us to better serve you by providing content that is tailored to your specific interests and needs, and to facilitate quicker and easier log-in for you by remembering your password. Cookie information is neither connected to external data sources nor passed on to any outside party that is not connected with us.

While cookies allow an enhanced user experience, they are not necessary to use our Site - except where strict security access controls are in place. Access to our Site will not be interrupted if users choose not to accept cookies, but certain features may not be available.

Web beacons

Roche Sites and emails may use a technology known as web beacons that allows the collection of web log information. A web beacon is a tiny graphic on a web page or in an email message designed to track pages viewed or messages opened. Web log information is gathered when you visit one of our Sites by the computer that hosts our Site (called a "webserver").

We may use web beacons to help determine which email messages sent by us were opened and whether a message was acted upon. Web beacons also help analyze the effectiveness of Sites by measuring the number of visitors to a site or how many visitors clicked on key elements of a site.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used to help make our website work better and to help us understand what parts of the website are being utilized. Google Analytics uses technical tools, such as first-party cookies and JavaScript code, to collect information about visitors. Google Analytics service tracks visitors to the site who have JavaScript enabled. Google Analytics anonymously and pseudonymously tracks how visitors interact with a website, including where they came from and what they did on a site. Google Analytics collects the information set forth above from users.

This information is used to administer and update the website, and we will also assess whether the visitors to the site match the expected site demographics and determine how key audiences are navigating the content.

First-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) will be used to report how your ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to this site. More information is available in our Cookie Policy.

  1. Opt-Out Provision:
Google analytics offers an opt-out provision for website visitors who wish to limit the use of their data. You can receive more information about this option here.
  2. Google's Use of Data:
Google and its wholly owned subsidiaries may retain and use, subject to the terms of its Privacy Policy, information collected in your use of the Google Analytics Information Disclosures and Sharing.
Do Not Track

There are different ways you can prevent tracking of your online activity. One of them is setting a preference in your browser that alerts Sites you visit that you do not want them to collect certain information about you. This is referred to as a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) signal. Please note that currently our Sites and web-based resources do not respond to these signals from web browsers. At this time, there is no universally accepted standard for what a company should do when a DNT signal is detected.

We do not host or receive funding from advertising. From time to time, we may offer content provided through partnerships with other companies.

This Site contains links to other Sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these other sites. You should check the privacy policies of these other Sites when providing personally identifiable information.

We use third-party advertising companies to place ads on other Sites. These companies may use information (not including personally-identifiable information such as your name, address, e-mail address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Sites in order to measure advertising effectiveness and to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
