Highlights

  • High-speed scanning: Scans at 20x magnification in ~36 seconds and at 40x magnification in ~73 seconds (15mmx15mm AOIs)
  • No slide handling: Slides are loaded and scanned using a tray-based system, which eliminates slide-handling errors and improves reliability
  • High-quality images: Produces high-resolution digital images for various tissue types, including challenging slides such as frozen sections
  • DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) compatibility: Provides a standardized output file format for interoperability with PACS servers
  • File formats: Output file formats include BIF, TIF, and DICOM
  • Color management: Uses International Color Consortium (ICC) color standard profile generation in every scan
  • Dynamic focus: Tracks tissue depth in real time and uses the data for high resolution slide scanning
  • Calibration:  Automatic white balance calibration to ensure consistent image quality

Applications

The VENTANA DP 200 slide scanner offers multiple use cases to laboratories embracing digital pathology:

  • Immediate file transfer for earlier collaboration
  • Remote site scanning
  • Scan a variety of slide types including H&E, IHC, ISH, special stains, cytology and frozen sections

The Roche Digital Pathology Open Environment

With the acceleration of immunotherapies and the development of more complex assays, Roche is committed to an open environment for digital pathology. Roche encourages the development of reliable image analysis algorithms that can provide pathologists with tools to improve efficiency and precision for diagnosis. To that end, Roche is making the specifications of the Roche proprietary BIF file format publicly available.

Registration Status

CE-IVD. In the US, Roche Digital Pathology Dx is available as a whole slide imaging system to aid in primary diagnosis. Refer to the product-specific labeling for the regulatory status of scanners, software and/or algorithms. IVD products can be used for in-vitro diagnostic use.
