First, power on the instrument if this has not already happened. Wait until the main menu is displayed after the self-check. Then, once you are logged in, ensure that the date and time are correct. To run a patient test, touch the patient test button in the main menu, then enter or scan the patient ID. Touch the tick button to confirm. Note, you will only be prompted for a single test and dual test if you enable the dual testing option in the setup menu.

Start the single testing process by touching this Single Testing button. Read the on-screen instructions carefully. Open the Lipid Disc Pouch and remove the disc. Please note that the testing process for the Lipid Disc is the same as for the HBA1C and CRP discs.

Hold the disc with the side of the disc or the disc cover. Do not touch the surface of the disc. Check the disc center for correct disc identification. Open the disc cover completely. Ask your patient to wash their hands with soap. Warm water helps stimulate blood flow. Rinse the fingers extensively. Dry the hands. Take care that possible hand cream residuals are thoroughly removed. Massage the palms a couple of times to stimulate the blood flow. With the help of the massage and gravity, the blood goes down to the tips of the fingers easier.

Disinfect the fingertip by wiping the area to be lanced three times with an alcohol pad dabbed in 70% isopropyl alcohol. Then dry the finger with a sterile gauze pad. Take the purple cap off from the Accu-Chek® Safe T-Pro Plus lancing device, which ensures the sterility of the needle.

For lipid, we suggest setting the lancet penetration depth to 3. This allows high-volume sourcing. Lance the side of the finger. Wipe off the first drop of blood with a sterile gauze pad. Press both sides of the finger gently to expose a new drop. Make a good-sized blood drop from the finger before transferring the blood. If the blood drop is too small, hold the punctured side downward and gently apply repeated pressure. Avoid using strong pressure or milking the finger, as both procedures may result in hemolysis or tissue fluid contamination of the specimen. Position the disc's sample inlet above the drop of blood. Apply the blood to the sample inlet. Check that there is enough sample volume.

Sufficient sample is applied when the transparent dot is covered with blood. Close the disc cover firmly. Once closed correctly, the disc cover cannot be opened again. Open the instrument and insert the disc immediately. Close the instrument cover. The measurement starts automatically and takes about 4 to 6 minutes. Test results are displayed.

To finish the test, touch the tick button on the screen and dispose of the disk appropriately.
