Roche’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Our commitment to help put a stop to the COVID-19 pandemic

Roche is deeply committed to supporting the global response to put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. Around the world, we are working with urgency, passion and purpose each and every day to deliver high quality tests that are essential for healthcare systems and patients alike.

Timely availability and fast access to reliable, high quality tests are essential for healthcare systems.

Real-time RT-PCR test

Detecting SARS-CoV-2 in currently infected patients with high sensitivity

The cobas® SARS-CoV-2 Test is a real-time RT-PCR test intended for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab samples from patients.

This test can run on Roche’s fully automated cobas® 6800 and cobas® 8800 Systems under Emergency Use Authorization. The test is also available for countries accepting the CE-mark.

Real-time RT-PCR mPOC test

Detecting SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza A or B in currently infected patients with high sensitivity

The cobas® SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza A/B Assay is an automated multiplex real-time RT-PCR assay for the rapid in vitro qualitative detection and discrimination of SARS-CoV-2, influenza A virus, and influenza B virus RNA from individuals suspected of a respiratory infection.

The test is run on Roche’s molecular point-of-care PCR testing  solution, cobas® Liat® System, under Emergency Use Authorization.

Antibody test

Detecting a patient’s immune response to SARS CoV-2 with high specificity

The Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 is an immunoassay for the in vitro qualitative detection of antibodies (including IgG) to SARS-CoV-2 in human serum and plasma. The test is intended as an aid in the determination of the immune reaction to SARS-CoV-2.

The electrochemiluminescence immunoassay “ECLIA” is intended for use on cobas e immunoassay analyzers.

When to use which
SARS‑CoV‑2 diagnostic test1

Reliable diagnostic tests targeting patients that are currently infected by the virus, as well as those that have an immune response against the virus, are valuable. However, it is important to understand which tests are most suitable to use depending on their intended purpose.
