Cardiovascular disease remains a significant challenge globally, necessitating improved strategies for risk assessment and intervention. This 30-minute ASPIRE webinar, led by Prof. Michal Vrablik, dives into the critical role of lipids and lipoproteins as the "lowest-hanging fruit" in cardiovascular prevention. Tailored for Point of Care healthcare professionals, this session provides cutting-edge insights based on the latest European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines, focusing on how improved measurement and early detection can dramatically shift cardiovascular risk trajectories in patient populations. It highlights the evolution of risk assessment with lipid biomarkers and the importance of screening for inherited disorders like Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH).
The webinar offers highly practical information on crucial topics, including the utility of lipoproteins like LDL-C and ApoB as comprehensive lipid markers of atherosclerotic risk, featured in updated ESC guidelines. Another focus is placed on the newly highlighted risk biomarker, Lp(a), which the latest guidelines recommend be measured in all patients at least once in their lifetime due to its substantial contribution to increased risk. Crucially for our audience, the discussion covers the major barriers to screening in children (specifically blood sampling) and how the innovative use of Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), as demonstrated in the Czech CzeCH-IT project, is an effective strategy to overcome reluctance and improve FH detection rates. The session shows how modern POCT methods help to make instant, reliable results a reality in a clinical setting.
To equip your team with innovative screening methods and up-to-date guideline knowledge, we strongly encourage you to watch the full webinar. Whether you are seeking to integrate more accurate and comprehensive risk stratification tools (like Lp(a)) into your lab protocols or implement convenient POCT solutions to improve patient engagement in screening, this session offers meaningful guidance and a clear pathway toward enhancing patient outcomes. Please enjoy this ASPIRE webinar to gain critical insights into proper lipid measurement and management and elevate your role in cardiovascular health!
