cobas® liat system support: General update information

Why should I upgrade my cobas® liat system software and assay scripts?

Periodically, you will need to install and register new system software and assay scripts on your cobas® liat system, so your system will always run as efficiently as possible.

Upgrading cobas® liat system software and/or assay scripts is a two-step process. 

  • Step 1: Installation 
  • Step 2: Registration
 

1. Installing software and assay script updates

Updates may be installed via two modes:

 

Mode 1: Roche remote service platform: service that allows for remote updates and troubleshooting.

The benefits of Mode 1 are remote installation and automatic registration of the new software and assay scripts. This mode is typically the most convenient as it requires the least active time from customers.

How to know if your cobas® liat systems are connected to a network:

  • Do you have an ethernet cable connected beneath the 2 USB ports on your cobas® liat system?

  • Do your results automatically cross into your LIS or patient chart?

If either of these are true, then your cobas® liat system is connected to a network.

Mode 2: USB flash drive

If you are unable to take advantage of our remote service platform, you may install the software and assay script updates using a USB flash drive. You can download the software and assay script updates directly from the cobas® liat Software Download Portal https://softwaredistribution.navify.com/ onto a USB Flash Drive. This digital download only takes a few minutes, and each USB flash drive can be used to upgrade multiple cobas® liat systems.

To install the update from your USB, first log into your cobas® liat system as an ADMIN user. From the Main screen, insert your prepared USB flash drive at the rear of the analyzer. A message dialog box will automatically open after the drive is inserted. Follow the on screen prompts for software/script installation.

Note: If your cobas® liat systems are not connected to a network, and you are unable to download the update packages from the website, please contact Roche cobas® liat system Technical Support at 1-800-800-5973 for assistance obtaining a software or assay script USB.

 

2. Registering the new software or assay script

If you upgrade your software or assay script via the Roche remote service platform, the registration is performed automatically. No further action is required.

If you upgrade your software or assay script via USB flash drive, you will need to register the new software. The software or assay script must be registered within 30 days of installation. If this has not occurred within 30 days of installation, you will be prevented from testing until registration is completed.

After installing the new script, activation is required by the user. The new script must be registered through activation within 30 days. You can use the unregistered assay during the 30-day registration period. But, once this period has expired, the assay can no longer be used for testing until the activation has been completed. 

In order to register your new software, you will need your registration code from the cobas® liat. If no activation message is displayed, you may obtain the registration code for an assay script under the Assay Menu, and for the system software under Settings > System Info.

To obtain your activation code, go to https://liatactivation.dialog.roche.com. Enter your registration code and your email address. Your activation code will be emailed to you. Print the Activation barcode, or note the activation code provided. Enter or scan the activation code and choose the Enter button. You should receive a message that says assay or software successfully activated.
