Elias Mossialos is the Cheng Yu Tung Chair in Global Health at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Director of LSE Health. As the founding Head of the Department of Health Policy, his extensive research portfolio focuses on health systems and policy, delving into areas such as healthcare financing, accessibility, quality, and regulation. His expertise extends to pharmaceutical policies, antimicrobial resistance, and cancer care and policy. His impactful contributions have been recognized globally, with over 300 publications across public policy, health policy, economics, and political science. Professor Mossialos played a pivotal role in co-founding the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, while also serving as a Member of Parliament and Minister of State in Greece (2009-2012), where he chaired the Parliament's Special Permanent Committee on Monitoring the Social Security System. He has served as a key advisor to various governmental and international bodies, including the World Health Organization, the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the World Bank.
