Sustainable and reliable diagnostics for everyone

Infectious diseases remain a severe threat to global welfare, placing immense pressure on health systems, local economies, and communities.1 Alarmingly, about half of the world's population currently experiences little to no access to diagnostics.2 In low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where the burden is heaviest, the vast majority of individuals lack access to essential testing.2

We believe everyone has the right to receive sustainable and reliable diagnostics to help prevent, diagnose, monitor, and manage their health—no matter where they live. The Roche Global Access Program was established in 2014 to bridge this critical care gap. What began as a targeted effort to expand sustainable human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) viral load testing in Africa has scaled into a comprehensive infectious disease testing program, which now includes support for tuberculosis (TB), human papillomavirus (HPV), and hepatitis. Today, the Global Access Program provides a proven mechanism that combines diagnostic innovation with strategic global partnerships, establishing testing infrastructure as the backbone of resilient healthcare networks.

Uniting global leadership to transform public health

The Roche Global Access Program was created in direct partnership with country governments and leading international health organizations, including:

  • UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS)
  • CHAI (The Clinton Health Access Initiative)
  • PEPFAR (The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief)
  • The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

Rather than acting as a simple product vendor, Roche combines its innovation, operation expertise and footprint to partner with leaders across global, regions and countries and address systemic hurdles preventing access to diagnostics tests and services. Through the Roche Global Access Program, we actively co-create tailored, scalable public health solutions with ministers of health, national disease programs experts, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and private sector entities.
