Chromic acid suppresses weaker background staining of collagen fibers and basement membranes. The Sodium bisulfite<1% reagent removes excess chromic acid. The GMS Silver nitratereagent provides the silver ions. The GMS Silver buffer reagent provides thealkaline environment in which silver ions are intrinsically reduced to metallic silver within the tissue. The Gold chloride <1%reagent contains gold chloride to form a more stable gold complex and remove the yellow tones from the tissue. TheSodiumthiosulfate<3% reagentstops the reaction and removes any unreduced silver from the section. This kit is optimized for use on BenchMark Special Stains instruments.
