During the decolorization step with SSR Solution, this dye complex is removed from some tissue elements and Gram-negative bacteria, but is retained within the thick cell walls of Gram-positive bacteria. Following the decolorization step, basic fuchsin is applied to stain decolorized bacteria and tissue elements. Gallego solution is then used to differentiate and enhance staining contrast. The tissue can be counterstained with tartrazine, or no counterstain can be selected.This kit is optimized for use on BenchMark Special Stains instruments.
