The antibody also stains a subpopulation of endothelial cells, most prominently those of the capillaries and smaller blood vessels.1 Anti-HAM-56 antibody reacts with monocytes, but is unreactive with B- and T-lymphocytes.1-4

In general, immunohistochemical staining allows the visualization of antigens\nvia the sequential application of a specific antibody (primary antibody) to the antigen, a\nsecondary antibody (link antibody) to the primary antibody, an enzyme complex and a\nchromogenic substrate with interposed washing steps. The enzymatic activation of the\nchromogen results in a visible reaction product at the antigen site. The specimen may then be\ncounterstained and a coverslip applied.
