Advanced diagnostics for gastroenteritis: unveiling the cobas® eplex gastrointestinal panel *

Gastroenteritis is a significant cause of morbidity worldwide. This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of the disease state of gastroenteritis, exploring its etiology, clinical manifestations, and global impact. We will review traditional diagnostic modalities, including culture and antigen-based tests, juxtaposed with current advancements in Culture-Independent Diagnostic Testing (CIDT) methods. The discussion will culminate with the introduction and analytical feasibility of the cobas® eplex gastrointestinal (GI) panel, a novel multiplex syndromic PCR test currently in development which is designed for the rapid identification of multiple pathogens associated with gastroenteritis.

2. Compare traditional and advanced diagnostic methods for gastroenteritis.
